Chief Minister of Jharkhand – Babulal Marandi (2000-2003)
Babulal Marandi was the First Chief Minister of Jharkhand from 15 Nov 2000 to 17 March 2003.He was the founder and national President of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik). He was the Member of Parliament in 12th, 13th 14th and 15th Lokasabha from Jharkhand. He was the Union State Minister (MoS) for Forests & Environment of India in the BJP – led National Democratic Alliance Government in 1998 to 2000.He also put forward the idea to develop Greater Ranchi to reduce the crowding in the city. However, Marandi’s tenure proved rather short-lived, as he had to resign and make way for Arjun Munda for the post in 2003 following pressure exerted by coalition allies primarily Janta Dal United.
Chief Minister of Jharkhand – Arjun Munda (2003-2005, 2005-06, 2010-2013)
Arjun Munda was the Second Chief Minister of Jharkhand.He served three times Chief Minister of Jharkhand.He is the current Minister of Tribal Affairs in the Second Modi ministry.He has also served as a member of parliament having been elected to the 15th Lok Sabha from the Jamshedpur constituency in the 2009 parliamentary elections.His inclusive philosophy and his commitment to Jharkhand’s high growth and development put him in the CM’s chair in 2003 at the young age of 35 when he was chosen as the consensus candidate to lead the State in the aftermath of Babulal Marandi’s divisive domicile policy.
Chief Minister of Jharkhand – Shibu Soren (2005, 2008-09, 2009-2010)
Shibu Soren was the Third Chief Minister of Jharkhand who served three times as a CM from first in 2005 for 10 day (2 March to 12 March), then from 2008 to 2009 and again from 2009 to 2010.He resigned on 30 May 2010 after failing to obtain coalition support from the Bharatiya Janata Party, his national party partner.He previously represented the Dumka constituency of Jharkhand in the 14th Lok Sabha, and is the President of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) political party, a constituent of the UPA.He was the Minister for Coal in the Union Cabinet in November 2006, when a Delhi district court found him guilty in the murder of his private secretary Shashi Nath Jha in 1994.
Chief Minister of Jharkhand – Madhu Koda (2006-2008)
Madhu Koda was the Fourth Chief Minister of Jharkhand from 19 September 2006 – 27 August 2008.He was sworn in as the fourth Chief Minister of Jharkhand on 14 September 2006, and remained in office until he resigned on 23 August 2008. Koda is the third independent legislator to assume the office of chief minister of an Indian state, including Biswanath Das in Orissa in 1971 and Flinder Anderson Khonglam in Meghalaya in 2002.
Chief Minister of Jharkhand – Hemant Soren (2013-14, 2019-Present)
Hemant Soren was the Fifth Chief Minister of Jharkhand from 13 July 2013 – 28 December 2014 and 29 December 2019 to Present.He is also the president of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, a political party in Jharkhand.He was a member of Rajya Sabha from 24 June 2009 to 4 January 2010. He started his political career as Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) on 23 December 2009.Later on, he became Jharkhand deputy CM on 11 September 2010 till 8 January 2013. Soren was awarded Champions of Change Award in 2019, for his exceptional work for Dumka and Barhait constituency in the state of Jharkhand. The award was conferred by Shri Pranab Mukherjee at Vigyan Bhavan New Delhi on 20 January 2020.He is the Current Chief Minister of Jharkhand.
Chief Minister of Jharkhand – Raghubar Das (2014-2019)
Raghubar Das was the Sixth Chief Minister of Jharkhand from 28 December 2014 – 29 December 2019.He belongs to Bharatiya Janata Party and have twice served as the president of Jharkhand BJP,Currently he is National Vice President of BJP.A employee of Tata Steel, he served as the member of legislative assembly for five times, he was representing Jamshedpur East since 1995 to 2019.He also served as the Deputy Chief Minister and the Urban Development Minister during the BJP-led government in the state. He is the first chief minister of the state to have completed a full term.
